Color Paintings.
My work explores the fascinating, shifting relationships of color. My process is experimental, working to discover how color changes based on its surrounding context. And, ultimately how it affects human emotions and perceptions. I'm not so much a ''make-it-happen'' artist as a ''let-it-happen'' one.
I follow a course of layering oil and letting it dry between applications. This technique allows me
to hold onto some of the evolution of the painting . Colors may overlap to create a new hue or a mysterious iridescence. Unexpected glimpses of the underpainting may reveal an unexpected color.
My compositions are typically built with architectural shapes as opposed to organic forms. As a former graphic designer, I lean into the fundamental geometric forms that represent structural integrity and a visual aesthetic of the built environment.
